Tyson Fury took
another step towards a fight against Wladimir Klitschko with a fifth stoppage
of game but limited New Yorker Vinny
Maddalone to win the WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight title. 6ft 9inch Fury controlled the fight from the
start, landing heavy punches which eventually opened a nasty cut over
Maddalone’s left eye. Fury seemed to
ease off and wanted the referee to step in towards the end – something he won’t
be able to do against higher level opposition. Who next for Fury? I’d
personally like to see him in with Seth Mitchell or David Price, but talented
Pole Tomasz Adamek seems a likely opponent and a massive step up in class for
the undefeated contender.
